While on duty at Gardens by the Bay MRT Station, an Applied Protection (AP) officer noticed a member of the public attempting to scale the station concourse railing. The situation was identified quickly, nearby members of the public were alerted, and the matter was escalated immediately for further assistance.

Project Overview

In public-facing environments, security personnel are often required to respond to safety risks as they develop. In this instance, the priority was to recognise the danger early, prevent the situation from escalating, and ensure the right parties were informed without delay.

Approach

While stationed at the Remote Post, TSO Toh Lee Muay spotted a member of the public attempting to scale the station concourse railing. She quickly alerted nearby commuters to prevent a fall onto the platform, then promptly notified the Station Manager. The Police and SCDF were subsequently activated to assist.

Outcome

The situation was brought under control before a fall occurred, and the relevant emergency authorities attended to the matter. The incident was managed quickly, with the necessary escalation carried out in a timely manner.
