Project Overview
Security work often involves more than incident response. In public-facing environments, officers are also expected to handle lost property properly, maintain clear accountability, and support members of the public in a professional manner. In this instance, the priority was to secure the item and ensure it was returned through the correct process.
When the owner came to enquire about the missing item, she was able to identify it, and the jewellery was returned to her. The item was a diamond chain valued at S$7,500. The owner thanked the officer for finding it and presented him with a red packet as a token of appreciation. The Station Manager was also informed.

Challenge
Lost-and-found situations may appear straightforward, but they still require care and proper handling. Valuable items must be safeguarded, handed over correctly, and documented in a way that protects both the owner and the site.
Response
While carrying out his duties at Tanjong Katong MRT Station, TSO Tamil Selvan S/O Kanappan found a piece of jewellery on the station floor. He handed the item over to the duty personnel at the Passenger Service Centre for safekeeping.
Outcome
The jewellery was returned to its rightful owner without issue. The incident was resolved properly, with the item safeguarded and handed over through the appropriate process.
What this indicident highlights
